New ‘Life-Changing’ Israeli Heart Treatment Could Benefit Millions

“God is unto us a God of deliverances; and unto GOD the Lord belong the issues of death.” Psalms 68:21 (The Israel Bible™)

Researchers at Israel’s Ben Gurion University of the Negev (BGU) and Sheba Medical Center have developed a new method for treating atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The treatment prevents heart failure by reducing inflammation in the cardiovascular system and plaque in the arteries.

According to the 2015 Lancet Global Burden of Disease Report, 56 million deaths around the world each year result from atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Atherosclerosis is caused by high blood pressure, smoking or high cholesterol, and damages the thin layer of cells in the arteries called “endothelium” that keep blood flowing smoothly. This damage causes plaque to form in the arteries and can eventually lead to heart failure.

“Our E-selectin-targeting polymer reduces existing plaque and prevents further plaque progression and inflammation, preventing arterial thrombosis, ischemia, myocardial infarction and stroke,” said Prof. Ayelet David of the BGU Department of Clinical Biochemistry and Pharmacology.

This new treatment developed by Israeli researches reverses arterial damage and strengthens muscle in the heart. Although there are several different treatment options for atherosclerosis, researchers said the new Israeli-developed method goes further by actually reversing arterial damage and rehabilitating the heart muscle.

Additionally, the polymer-based Israeli treatment has no side effects because it specifically targets only damaged heart tissue and does not damage healthy tissue—unlike statins, the current leading method for treating atherosclerosis. Researchers said the new method could also have “life-changing benefits for millions of people” suffering from diabetes, hypertension and other conditions.

Hackers Use Stolen NSA Program to Launch Biggest Global Cyber Attack in History

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of Hashem, and their due reward from Me, saith Hashem.” Isaiah 54:17 (The Israel Bible™)

Nearly 100 countries and tens of thousands of computer systems were hit by a cyber attack of unprecedented proportions utilizing a program believed to have come from the National Security Agency (NSA).

It is believed that over 75,000 computers were infected mainly in Britain, Spain, Russia, Ukraine and Taiwan with the virus now dubbed ‘Wanna Cry’. The software sent out emails which appeared to contain invoices, job offers, security warnings and other legitimate files.  When opened, the virus locked users out of their systems, demanding a ransom of $300-$600 be paid or data would be destroyed. It was unclear whether people who paid were allowed back into their systems.

In Britain, hospitals were locked out of their systems, forcing  emergency rooms to turn away patients. The virus froze approximately 1,000 computers in Russia’s Interior Ministry and police.

The virus takes advantage of a vulnerability in Windows that was identified by the NSA. The information was allegedly stolen from the NSA in April by a group called the Shadow Brokers, but may have been passed to other hackers as well. Microsoft released a patch in March to address this vulnerability, but networks that did not adopt it  remain vulnerable. On Saturday, Microsoft released an additional security update for all customers to further protect Windows platforms.
