Tom Lipscomb, an entrepreneur with a long history in software development, is charting a new course for a startup he intends to scale.
Lipscomb is well versed in developing programs that use an artificial intelligence platform to help companies read data in government contracts, many of which can be long and daunting, filled with unstructured data.
He is the founder of Atebion LLC, which was formed in 2014 in Virginia after he developed a document analyzer tool called the Professional Document Analyzer that helped proposal writers address requests of proposals from the federal government.
For years, Libscomb said, he was a contractor, working with government agencies including Homeland Security helping address terrorist attacks.
In 2020, Atebion LLC went through a merger and acquisition to form the company Scion Analytics, which is based in Tampa.
Scion uses the technology from Atebion that Lipscomb developed to go through governmental proposals and resumes. Lipscomb still fully owns Atebion and is a minority shareholder of Scion.
“The reason why I was interested in the merger and acquisition is I wanted to get to where I’m at right now, where I can create an advanced AI company,” Lipscomb said.
Lipscomb served Scion as an executive vice president. He recently left to form Golden Goose AI, which he says will take AI to the next level.
Scion Analytics uses a significant amount of language processing. With Golden Goose AI, Lipscomb wants to stretch the limits of capabilities and dive into the more “cognitive brain,” similar to how humans comprehend data, he explained.
“It will be a leading-edge use of AI. I have already developed some amazing algorithms. As a result, I am getting approached by investors,” he said, noting how one investor is from Tampa and another is very well-known in San Fransisco.
Lipscomb has a three-year plan for reaching the advanced capabilities and is seeking a $6 million investment.
Unlike the innovative platforms on the market today, Golden Goose AI will use rapid-reacting, time-saving solutions for commercial and government customers by creating proprietary artificial intelligence technologies that produce faster results on more innovative platforms and at less cost than currently available, according to Lipscomb’s description.
The platform does not require a large server farm or a massive cloud network in order to function.
The company will be divided into two concentrations – research and commercial applications.
The commercial applications will be spinoffs created out of Golden Goose AI. By having the spinoffs, it will create more revenue to be funneled into Golden Goose AI as it continues to do research development.
He said there are five submarkets he will target different verticals ranging from finance, pharmaceutical, health care, defense and cybersecurity.
Lipscomb said he doesn’t intend to compete against Scion Analytics.
Today, Lipscomb is the sole employee at his company but plans to hire computer engineers and is seeking a COO to run the day-to-day operations. Lipscomb wants to focus his role on advancements for the AI tech.
He said he is actively seeking traditional office space in Tampa Bay and wants to start with a fairly small team.
