A four-goal second period by the host Chippewa Steel helped doom the Minnesota Wilderness to a 5-3 defeat in North American Hockey League play on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.
Minnesota had a 2-0 lead after a period on goals from Cole Crusberg-Roseen and Matthew McQuade, but Chippewa scored four times in the first 13:29 of the second period. Max Neill pulled one back for Minnesota with 29 seconds to go until intermission, but a Chippewa insurance goal was the only tally of the third period for either side.
Jacob Zacharewicz made 24 saves for Minnesota (8-4-1-0). The Wilderness continue their southbound road trip with games Friday and Saturday at the Springfield (Illinois) Jr. Blues.
