Bloomberg reported Sunday that Microsoft will acquire RiskIQ for more than $500 million in cash. Founded in 2009, RiskIQ sells “attack surface management” software and helps companies protect their web, social, and mobile exposures. The startup, which raised a $15 million Series D round in June 2020, is one of many attracting attention from investors and acquirers amid increased cyberattacks. Microsoft has more than 3,500 employees working on security. Last month it acquired another security startup, ReFirm Labs, and a year ago bought CyberX. We’ve reached out to Microsoft for comment on the reported RiskIQ deal.
