CLEVELAND, Ohio — Federal prosecutors have their first two guilty pleas in connection with Ohio’s nuclear bailout bribery scandal.
Jeffrey Longstreth, a longtime aide to former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder, and lobbyist Juan Cespedes pleaded guilty Thursday to racketeering charges involving the House Bill 6 scandal. Often when people take pleas so soon after an indictment it means they are cooperating with the continuing investigation. In other news, Cuyahoga County avoided being upgraded to purple because of the coronavirus, defying expectations. And the U.S. Justice Department reportedly did little to investigate civil rights violations in the 2014 Cleveland police killing of 12-year-old Tamir Rice.
